Motorcyclist hurt as electric wire breaks, falls over him in Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolis

POKHARA: A youth riding on a motorcycle sustained injuries after an uninsulated wire fell on him in Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City-11 of Kaski district, on Thursday evening.

The injured has been identified as Bishnu Bastakoti (26) of Bhalam in Pokhara Lekhnath-20.

The incident occurred when Bastakoti riding on the motorcycle (Ga 6 Pa 8128) was struck by the wire that fell from the roadside electric pole in Ranipauwa yesterday evening, according to the District Police Office, Kaski.

Bastakoti got a severe electric shock which burnt the right side of his body, informed the DPO.

The locals and police personnel immediately rescued the injured Bastakoti and rushed tothe Manipal Teaching Hospital where he is undergoing treatment in Intensive Care Unit, said police.

Bastakoti is said to be in critical condition.

The rain water entered the disc joining two wire which made the disk hot, subsequently breaking the wire, according to Nepal Electricity Authority, Pokhara, Distribution Centre Chief Suraj Gautam,

The locals enraged over the incident barred the NEA personnel from entering the area until they agree to replace the wire with new ones.

Earlier, similar incident have occurred in that particular electric pole, informed local Keshav Marasaini.

The NEA Pokhara has started to replace the wire with new wires since Friday morning.

Just three days ago, Santosh Sunar was electrocuted while unplugging phone from charger in Gharmi of Pokhara Lekhnath-19.
