SARLAHI, MAY 7

A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a passenger bus along the Banke–Sangrampur road section in Haripurwa Municipality-9 of Sarlahi district on Thursday morning.

According to the District Police Office, the accident occurred at around 8:00 am when a bus (Ga 1 Kha 9467) heading towards Banke from Sangrampur collided with a motorcycle (Na 48 Pa 470) coming from the opposite direction near Khila village.

The motorcyclist, identified as 36-year-old Shyam Thakur, also known as Pappu, of Gaushala Municipality-12, Mahottari, sustained serious injuries in the incident. He was rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa, where doctors declared him dead.

Police said Thakur suffered severe head injuries and died on the way to the hospital.

Information Officer and DSP Saroj Rai said the body has been kept at the hospital for post-mortem.

The bus driver fled the scene following the accident.

Police have taken the bus owner, 27-year-old Manish Kumar Mahato of Parsa Rural Municipality-2, Sangrampur, and the motorcycle into custody and launched an investigation.
