Accident occurred at Bhuwali Chowk; EV driver taken into police custody

RAUTAHAT, JANUARY 5

A motorcyclist was killed after an electric van collided with a motorcycle at Bhuwali Chowk along the Postal Highway in Rautahat on Monday morning.

The accident occurred at around 8:45 am in Boudhimai Municipality–1, when a passenger-carrying Laliguras EV van (Province 03–001 Ja–766) hit an on-test Platina motorcycle. The deceased has been identified as Dipendra Baitha of Inarwa village, Boudhimai Municipality–2, who died on the spot.

Police teams from the Kopwa Area Police Office and the District Police Office, Rautahat were mobilised immediately after receiving information about the incident.

According to Rautahat District Police Office's acting information officer and Police Inspector Rudra Kandel, Baitha was rushed in critical condition to the Provincial Hospital, Gaur, where doctors declared him dead.

Police have taken the EV van and its driver, 25-year-old Upendra Sah of Rajpur Municipality–5, into custody and launched an investigation. The body has been kept at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur, for post-mortem examination.
