Mt Nychenkangsa scaled

Kathmandu, October 17:

A four-member team, comprising of two Nepali Sherpas, one Japanese and a Mexican, has successfully scaled Mt Nychenkangsa located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

The group, led by Sato Konihiko, a Japanese national, reached the summit of 7206 meter-high peak bordering Gyangze and Nagarze counties of Tibet, on September 23.

The other members of the team are Tika Ram Gurung, 34, Pema Tshering Sherpa, 32, and the Mexican national, Eva Martinez Sandoual, 38. According to China Tibet Mountaineering Association, Eva became the first Mexican woman to climb a mountain of the Tibetan Himalayas.

“It’s wonderful to be the first lady atop a peak above 7000 meters in the Himalayas, especially after my unsuccessful attempt to scale Mt Gasherbrum-II in Pakistan this summer,” Eva said. With success at Mt Nychenkangsa, mountaineer Tika Ram Gurung plans to climb Mt Everest in the near future.
