Municipal assembly meetings yet to be held
Bajura, December 12
Almost six months have passed after the civic polls were held, but Budhiganga Municipality in Bajura is yet to hold municipal assembly meeting. As a result, development activities and other work have been stranded.
Krishna Bahadur Thapa, a local, said as regular municipal assembly meetings had not been held, the budget allocated for local level development had not been utilised.
Ward Chair Bharat Thapa of the municipality said the municipal assembly had met twice till date. Another ward chair Dharma Raj Jaisi said political disputes related to formation of committees had affected municipal meetings. There are 14 members from the UML and six from the NC in the municipal assembly.
Accountant at the municipality, Ramesh Sha, said development activities had not gained momentum as municipal assembly meetings could not be held. Health coordinator Dipak Sha said all health programmes in the municipality were stranded due to the same reason. He further said the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML were to blame for inability to hold meeting in the municipality.
Meanwhile, Mayor Dipak Bikram Sha said the problems occurred because UML supporters did not opt for consensus in matters related to various subject committees. “We are looking to resolve the issue and will take the process ahead soon,” he added.
