Municipality has a tap to quench 200 families

DADELDHURA: Over 200 families of Amargadi Municipality-1, Malum area are sharing a single tap for drinking water — their last resort.

The large families' members are facing routine problems as they have to queue up for about an hour to get a bucket of water.

The local residents are compelled to use the same tap over and again after their drinking water project run by an NGO came to an abrupt halt owing to budget crunch.

An NGO had constructed the drinking water project in 1997 before the area was declared a municipality. The denizens of the area have been facing difficulties as the NGOs and the government organisations have policy of focusing the VDCs rather than municipality for the developmental works.

Local, Ganesh Rokka, informed that locals were compelled to queue up as early as 4 am to get a jar of drinking water. "We've urge the government and the NGOs to maintenance of the water project many times, but nothing ever happened," said local Ganesh Tamoli.

Local Raghubar Bhatta said that the VDCs were more developed in comparison to municipalities as organisations tend to focus on development of villages.
