KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 2
The Myagdi section of the Beni–Jomsom–Korala road has been blacktopped after 19 years, marking a major upgrade to the strategic roadway linking Myagdi with Mustang.
Of the 33 km stretch from Beni to Kavrebhir, the road has now been widened to 11 metres and blacktopped, according to project engineer Bishnu Chapagain.
Key completed works include 11 km of the 16.5 km Nagdhunga–Kaikukhola section, completed at a cost of Rs 630 million; 15 km of the 19 km Rahughat–Nagdhunga section, completed at Rs 660 million; and Construction of motorable bridges at Rahughat, Begkhola, Mahabhir, Kaligandaki (Pokharebagar), Ghattekhola (Dana), and installation of Bailey bridges over Bhurungkhola and Rupsekhola.
The upgraded section is expected to significantly improve access to Mustang and boost tourism and local connectivity.
