The National Assembly endorsed the Prison Bill, 2022. The session unanimously passed the bill received from the House of Representatives for approval.

The bill was presented in the National Assembly by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.

During deliberations, Bimala Rai Poudel and Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar drew the government's attention towards the construction of infrastructure and proper management of human resources to see improvement in prison management. Responding to queries raised during deliberations, the minister said the bill would ensure enhancement of prisons' physical situation and its proper management.

The bill aims to develop prison as a correction home and make inmates and detainees engage in productive works, and making them realise their responsibilities towards society. He pledged to incorporate suggestions that prison should serve as correction centres and the State should be serious about health and security of inmates and detainees. According to him, investment in prison management would increase from the next year.

The meeting also unanimously accepted the proposal to seek re-endorsement of the Urban Area Public Transport Management Authority Bill, 2019 with amendments from the House of Representatives.

The proposal was presented by Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rayi.
