Khadka lambasts left alliance

Kathmandu, October 23

Nepali Congress leader Narayan Khadka today said the alliance between CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre was just for ascending to power.

At a programme organised by Reporters’ Club Nepal, Khadka asserted that the NC should not be worried because of the left alliance.

He said, “The alliance is only for serving petty interest. It will not last long.” The NC leader added that alliance of political ideology and principle however was necessary for the country’s development.

Also the former Urban Development Minister noted there was no meaning in the CPN-Maoist Centre remaining in the government after making alliance with the main opposition party.

CPN-UML leader Shankar Pokharel, on the other hand, said that the leftist alliance was for political stability and development of the country.

Pokharel clarified that there was no reason for the Nepali Congress to be worried due to the alliance. He added that KP Sharma Oli would be the prime minister if the CPN-UML from the alliance gets a chance to lead the government after elections.

CPN-Maoist Centre leader Haribol Gajurel said the communist parties formed the alliance as per the necessity of the country.

Leader of the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal, Keshav Jha, said that there would be alliance with democratic forces in the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.
