KATHMANDU, JULY 2

The Narayangadh-Butwal road expansion project has reached just 69 percent completion, even as its third extended deadline nears expiration on July 24.

The project, being executed by China State Construction Corporation Pvt. Ltd., is now seeking a fourth extension-this time for an additional year, according to Project Information Officer Shiva Khanal.

Despite the delays, some relief is in sight. The newly constructed bridge over the Binayi River in Dumkibas is expected to come into operation within two to three days, offering respite to drivers and passengers who have faced repeated disruptions due to diversions washed away by monsoon floods.

Khanal said upcoming work will prioritize easing traffic along the Daunne section. Currently, only essential maintenance is being carried out to keep traffic moving, while construction activities such as culvert installation remain on hold.

The prolonged delay in completing the key highway expansion has caused ongoing difficulties for travelers along the busy route.
