Maoists assaults

DADELDHURA: UCPN-Maoist cadres physically assaulted Editor of Janaadarsha Weekly Liladhar Bhatta on Monday. He was manhandled for defying their bandh call. Bhatta is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Baitedi.

YCL thrashes NC

GORKHA: Cadres of Young Communist League brutally attacked Dhruba Panta, chairperson of Nepali Congress, ward committee of Prithvi Narayan Municipality ward-9 of Gorkha district. He is said to be critical. Condemning such repeated illegal and anti-human rights incidents by Maoist cadres in various parts of the country, the NC has demanded with the government to bring the guilty to book and arrange necessary treatment for the injured.

Third-gender expelled

KANCHANPUR: A third gender, Arati Shrestha, 19, from Malgansen of Achham has been expelled from the family. Arati said her parents beat her and ostracised as she rejected a marriage proposal. Out of home for three months, Arati has been taking shelter at Prasansa Protection Group in Mahendranagar. She is now in contact with Blue Diamond Society, Kailali, Basu Bhatta of the Group said.
