Suspect absconding
NEPALGUNJ : Convict Prithvi Raj Rai, 30, of Banspani VDC of Khotang district, who had absconded on Thursday while he was being brought to police office, is yet to be traced. The police held three persons — Rai’s wife Renuka, father Naidhan and mother-in-law Chuna Maya alleging that they helped Rai run away. Police are on the look out at the suspicious areas, said police sub-inspector Ram Kaji Thapa. Rai was arrested after he was accused of opening fire at 40-year-old, Mani Lal Rai.
2 die in road mishap
JHAPA: Two persons died in a road accident along the Charpane road section in Jhapa on Saturday evening. The deceased are identified as Madan Prasain and Suresh Pathak of Anarmani-7. Police inspector Abhichandra Rijal said the accident occurred when the motorcycle the two were riding collided with a parked truck. They had died on the spot. Following the mishap, local residents set two trucks ablaze.
PABSON meet
CHITWAN: District convention of Private and Boarding Schools Organisation Nepal, Chitwan, concluded here on Saturday. The convention elected Shree Prasad Dhungana as the chairperson of the PABSON Chitwan chapter. Similarly, Bel Bahadur Gurung and Desh Bandhu Adhikari were elected vice-chairperson and secretary, respectively.
