HIV-positive kid dies
BAGLUNG: An infant, who was diagnosed positive to HIV, died here in Baglung Hospital on Friday. The six-month old was admitted to the hospital saying he was suffering from pneumonia. Dr Toran Poudel of the hospital said the baby was also diagnosed HIV positive in course of treatment. Other nine people, who were using antiretroviral drugs in the hospital also died of the disease. Of the deceased, eight were males, Dr Poudel said. Altogether 50 people have been taking antiretroviral drugs from Baglung Hospital.
Unidentified body
DAMAK: A body of a man of his twenties was found in the bank of Ratuwa River in Damak Municipality-13 of Jhapa on Saturday morning. Police said the deceased had a deep cut in the mouth and investigation into it was already underway.
Booze-free movement
BIRGUNJ: Women of Thori VDC of Parsa have geared up for making their locality free from alcohol. Various social organisations, including the local mothers’ groups, have also expressed their solidarity with the women’s move. “We decided to launch the campaign against alcohol as this is one of the prime factors of the violence against women,” said volunteer of local Dibya Youth Club Laxmi Dhungana. The women also claimed to have garnered support from men to make the campaign a success.
