Border reopens
Parasi: The border that was closed by India’s Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) personnel by digging trenches in their bid to strengthen border monitoring was reopened on Wednesday. The border was reopened following talks between senior Indian officials and a team of Nepal-India Civil Society, Parasi. Following the talks, the District Magistrate of Marajgunj district in India had instructed the SSB to open the border.

BIRATNAGAR: A ‘fast track’ court in Arariya district of India has slapped a life sentence on an Indian doctor who had killed a Nepali woman. Nepalis in Biratnagar have hailed the court verdict. Dr Bijay Chaudhary, who was working at a hospital in the bordering town of Farbisgunj, had killed Nanu Chhetri of Biratnagar-19 some 20 months ago. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by Chhetri’s relatives.
One killed in mishap
BAGLUNG: One person died and six others were injured when a mini-truck they were travelling in fell 59 feet down the road at Khurduke in Baglung Municipality-1 on Tuesday night. The mini-truck belonging to the District Police Office was returning to the district headquarters after transporting logistics for the upcoming School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination to Kusmisera and Balewa examination centres in the district when the incident occurred. The driver of the truck, Krishna Prasad Poudel, 27, of Balewa Paiyunpata was killed in the mishap
