Infant killed in fire

TEHRATHUM: An infant was burnt to death on Saturday night. Twenty-two-day-old daughter of Kamansingh Limbu of Solma-8, Megha, was killed in the fire. A kerosene lamp in the room had caused the fire. According to Ramesh Kumar Dev, Police Inspector, District Police Office, Tehrathum, the dead body was handed over to the parents after carrying out autopsy at the district hospital on Sunday. Meanwhile, property worth Rs 3 lakh was destroyed when the house of Bhanindra Limbu of Hamarjung-9 caught fire on Sunday. According to family sources, the fire had started from the kitchen at around 2 pm. A short circuit had caused the fire.

2 children drown

DHANGADHI: Two children have died from drowning while other has gone missing in Pandhra River at Bhajani in Kailali today. The children had gone to the local river to take bath after playing Holi in Bhajani Bazaar in the afternoon. According to Area Police Office, Bhajani, 12-year-old Rahul Karki and 14-year-old Bharat Bogati of Bhajani have died. The police are also searching for 13-year-old Daman BK, who has gone missing. Meanwhile, 35-year old Dipak Malla of Uttarbehadi was seriously injured when he was hit with an iron rod by Sunil Kunwar of Dhangadhi-2, Santosh Tole. District Police Office, Kailali said Malla has sustained injury on his eye and has been referred to Lucknow, India, after receiving preliminary treatment in Seti Zonal Hospital.
