Abducted for years

DIKTEL: Whereabouts of Menuka Bishwokarma, a resident of Mahadevsthan-4 in Khotang, who was abducted by the Maoists three years ago, are still unknown. According to her mother, Krishna Kumari Bishwokarma, a group of Maoist cadres including Ramita Bishwokarma had held Menuka hostage. ''The Maoists feign ignorance about it now,'' she said. Family sources said she was abducted on September 10, 2006.

Body lying in Saudi

Myagdi: Body of Rishiram Sunuwar, who died in Bahrain one-and-a-half months ago, is yet to be brought home. The 24-year-old resident of Salija VDC-1 in Myagdi reached Bahrain for job 16 months ago. The family members have blamed the Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia for the delay. Sunuwar was killed in a road accident in the Gulf country on January 1. The delay in sending the body has added insult to the injury of the bereaved family. Mek Bahadur Rajpun, one of the relatives of the deceased, said the embassy had not verified documents though the family has submitted all the details. ''There is no Nepali Embassy in Bahrain and the one in Saudi has been apathetic to our concern,'' he lamented.
