Blaze toll tops three

NUWAKOT: Three persons were killed in a ablaze that broke out in Dhunche and Yarsa VDCs in Rasuwa on Tuesday night. Four houses were gutted in Dhunche and one in Yarsa. Property worth Rs 2.7 million was destroyed in the ablaze in Dhunche Bazaar. Ten houses were gutted in another fire in Udaypur’s Salle Bazaar on Wednesday morning.

Three beaten to death

Jhapa: Three burglars were killed and two injured when they were beaten up by locals in Jhapa’s Pathariya VDC on Tuesday night. Police said an armed gang of 20-25 burglars had robbed a house on Tuesday midnight. Majid Alam and Jiyaruddin Miya of Kishangunj, India, were among the killed.

UK to review visa ban

Kathmandu: The UK Border Agency has said it will review the suspension of student visa from March. “The Agency will lift the suspension soon but gradually to ensure a sustainable return to a normal visa operation in time for students,” the British Embassy stated on Tuesday.

Campus padlocked

MAHENDRANAGAR: ANNISU-R activists on Wednesday indefinitely padlocked the Siddhinath Multiple Campus in Bhimdatta Municipality. The union said it was compelled to padlock the campus as the administration, management committee and the FSU had been apathetic to their demands.
