Minors injured in bomb blast
Rajbiraj: Cadres of the Akhil Terai Mukti Morcha detonated a bomb at the residence of one Shyam Sundar Shah in Bhardaha-3, Saptari on Monday afternoon. The cadres said Shah had spied against them. Shah’s daughter Parbati (11) and son Karan (6) were injured in the accident. Both the injured are undergoing treatment in the Bhardaha sub-health post. According to the DPO, a search for the culprits is on. Bishwajit, the commander of the Morcha in Saptari, owned up the blast over telephone. He said his group had detonated the bomb in Shah’s residence. He further warned that they would be forced to take “physical action” against Shah if he did not “mend his ways”. However, speaking at a press meet held in Rajbiraj on Sunday, Shah said that Bishwajit had demanded Rs 1 lakh as donation. He was threatened of physical action if he did not cough up the cash.
Relief for insurgency victims
PARBAT: The District Administration Office has distributed Rs 8.5 million to the families of those killed during the decade-long Maoist insurgency. The local administration distributed Rs 1 lakh to each family. According to the DAO, 95 persons lost their lives in the district during the insurgency. The office provided relief to the 85 families who were in contact with the office. Ramnath Adhikari, Finance Officer, DAO, said that the office had received Rs 8.9 million from the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction for the conflict affected people. He added they provided Rs 4, 99,000 to 12 people displaced during the insurgency.
