Squatters-police clash

MAHOTTARI: Squatters who had reached the District Administration Office to gherao the office clashed with police personnel on Monday as well. Some squatters have been injured in the incident. The clash ensued after the police obstructed the squatters' gathering in front of the main gate of the office. Protesting Sunday's incident in which security personnel had pulled down more than 60 huts built on the land of Laxminarayan Guthi, the squatters chanted slogans against the administration. They were later pacified with the promise to hold talks regarding providing the land to them.

VDC secy missing

BARA: Asha Mahammad Ansari, the secretary of Ratanpuri Village Development Committee of Bara, has gone missing since Monday morning. Ansari, a resident of Kalaiya-14 had left for the office to distribute allowances for elderly people when he disappeared, Superintendent of Police Mahendra Pokharel at District Police Office, Bara, said. Pokharel added that police suspect that Ansari may have been abducted. A search is on, he said.

Guardians picket DEO

MAHOTTARI: Protesting the recent formation of the school management committee, guardians of Rastriya Primary School in Mahottari's Padaula picketed the District Education Office on Monday. They have accused the District Education Officer Rambrikshya Shah and headmaster Mangalu Jha of not forming the management committee properly. Due to the protest, work in the office came to a halt.
