16 hurt in accident
TANAHUN: Sixteen passengers were injured, six seriously, when a bus heading for Damauli met with an accident in Chhang VDC-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Seriously injured Kedar Bhattarai (38) of Bandipur, Dimaya Rana (50) of Manapang-3, Ayusha Ale (18 months) and Dhanamaya Ale (36) of Byas-2, Sunita Adhikary (33) of Jamune-8 and Kalpana Thapa (18) of Jamune-7 were sent to Pokhara for treatment, District Police Office Tanahun said. Other passengers, who sustained minor injuries, are undergoing treatment in Seti Ganga Community Hospital. The accident is said to have been caused due to a flat tyre. The driver is in police custody.
Two Tibetans held
CHARIKOT: Police on Tuesday evening arrested two Tibetans from Banchare of Dolakha’s Lamidanda VDC-6. A team from Area Police Office Singati arrested the duo, who had entered Nepal from the Lamabagar border point without permission. District Police Office Dolakha said the arrested were sent to immigration department on Wednesday. Seven Tibetans were handed over to the department in July, eight in October and 10 in December.
Couple’s death
DAILEKH: A couple died of a mystery disease, which has gripped Sihasaina Village Development Committee for a week, on Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Bhim Bahadur Thapa Magar of Bansakatiya in Sihasaina VDC-7 and his wife Maisara of the same age. District Health Office Dailkeh said the disease had not been diagnosed yet. A team with medicines was sent to the village on Wednesday. As many as 15 people have been affected by the unknown disease in the VDC, according to Binod Kadayata of the Sihasina sub-health post. He said the patients had symptoms like fever, dizziness, shivering and losing
consciousness. The VDC is some 70 kilometres west of the district headquarters.
