National conference on human rights of people with disabilities begins

KATHMANDU: The national conference on human rights of people with disabilities has kicked off in the Capital today.

Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission Anup Raj Sharma inaugurated the two-day conference jointly organised by NHRC and the National Federation of the Disabled, Nepal.

Differently-abled people from all seven provinces have participated in the conference.

Discussions will be held on separate working papers on current situation of people with disabilities, challenges and suggestions and their rights, to be present in the conference, said the organiser.

A 'Kathmandu declaration' will be issued following consultations on the report of Nepal on the implementation of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and received suggestions.
