MORANG, SEPTEMBER 18

Nepali Congress central committee member Shekhar Koirala has called for forging national consensus among all political parties in the country to endorse the Millennium Challenge Corporation pact as per which Nepal gets the development grant from the government of the USA.

Talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport today, Koirala reminded how the country was shrouded in darkness when the Arun III Hydro Power Project had been taken back and said that the former prime ministers should discuss the MCC and reach consensus.

Koirala said that he would announce his candidacy for the party president in the upcoming 14th national convention in November only after discussing the matter with his friends.

The ruling party has been organising ward level conventions. NC is organising its much-awaited national convention on November 25-29.

Koirala clarified that there would be announcement of candidacy for party president only after district level conventions.

Stating that the coalition partners claiming chief ministers' seat in two provinces were irresponsible, he said that NC should be at the helm either in Province 1 or Bagmati.
