NHRC team probing Rangeli killings

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) deployed a high level investigate team to investigate the death of three civilians, who were killed in police firing in Rangeli and Dainiya of Morang district during the Madhes agitation.

The team comprises of NHRC member and spokesperson Mohna Ansari, member Govinda Sharma Paudel along with Regional Director and other NHRC officials.

Three people Draupadi Devi Chaudhary (58), Mahadev Rishidev (45) and Shibu Majhai (25) were killed in police firing on January 21.

The team already started onsite investigation of the incident, the constitutional human rights watchdog said in a statement today.

Similarly, the team members are set to collect separate statements from the Chief District Officers, district level security officials, chiefs of district level departmental offices and witnesses of the incident.
