"National prosperity to come with Constitution enforcement"

POKHARA: Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat has underpinned the need of holding all three tiers of elections in the stipulated timeframe for the implementation of the Constitution and for national prosperity.

Speaking in the party cadres gathering and New Year greeting exchange programme organised by the Nepali Congress Syangja-Pokhara Liaison Committee in Pokhara today, Minister Mahat said it is the main duty of the state to implement the constitution that has been achieved through a long struggle by the people.

He urged the party cadres to gear up for the local level election scheduled for this May 14 by forsaking internal misunderstandings so as to make the Nepali Congress as the first position party in the election.

Minister Mahat added that the government has brought the constitution amendment proposal to address the issues raised by the Madhes-based parties.

"Sowing divisions in society is detrimental to the country; so, the Madhesi Front should also think seriously on the new proposal,' he said.

Lawmakers Kamal Pangeni and Raju Thapa said the local level election was inevitable for the overall development of the country and called on all the party cadres to gear up for the local election for that purpose.
