Itahari,March 16:

Sunsari district remained tense today due to several demonstrations organised by Nepali Congress cadres in various parts of the district following the death of CA member Bodh Narayan Sardar four days ago.

The agitators demonstrated in Itahari, Tarahara, Inaruwa, Duhabi and Khanar, claiming that there was a conspiracy behind Sardar’s death. They obstructed vehicular movement in Itahari and organised a protest rally at Duhabi. People of all walks of life participated in the rally. They also gheraoed the Nemuwa Police Post and warned that they would torch it if the death was not investigated in a free and fair manner.

Sardar was killed in a motorcycle accident in Morang four days ago.

Meanwhile, district president of NC Ram Bahadur Basnet accused the police of trying to cover up the death due to Rs 90,000 cash and two mobile sets recovered from Sardar.

In Kathmandu, the NC expressed condolence over Sardar’s death and condemned the security bodies for their ignorance about the incident.

Meanwhile, the local administration has decided to probe into Sardar’s death.
