NC (D) CWC meet today

Kathmandu, January 12:

The Nepali Congress (D) will convene its Central Working Committee (CWC) and Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting tomorrow. The CWC will also select prospective lawmakers, who will represent the party in the interim legislature.

The interim legislature will be formed on Monday.

However, the NC (D) leadership is likely to face yet another series of intra-party wrangling over nominees with a faction headed by Bijay Kumar Gachchadar expected to demand “fairness” over the selection of the prospective legislators. The NC and the CPN-UML, too, have not yet selected legislators for the interim legislature.

During the PP meeting, NC (D) president Sher Bahadur Deuba and member of the government talks team and Minister of State for Labour and Transport Management Ramesh Lekhak will brief PP members on the draft of the interim constitution.

The CWC of the NC (D) is debating the draft of the interim statute.
