Kathmandu, April 20:

Nepali Congress (D) has called a meeting of its central working committee tomorrow amid growing possibility of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s arrest by the Royal Commission for Control of Corruption any time following the issuance of summons yesterday.

While the announcement concerning the meeting is silent on the agenda, it is believed that Deuba has called the meeting to draw up a strategy and send the impression that the party is behind him.

Meanwhile, Deuba today inducted Uma Adhikari and Hari Prasad Nepal into the central working committee of the party. While Deuba has time and again spurned the call for a CWC meet from a section of the party, the latest call comes barely after a day the royal commission issued summons to him, which he reportedly declined to receive.

The commission is apparently keen on interrogating Deuba in connection with his decision to expedite the work of the access road of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project and misappropriation of PM Relief Fund during the Dashain festivities.
