KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has called its central committee meeting on Monday to discuss party's future strategy and contentious issues of national importance.

"The meet will discuss House disruption, agitation of UCPN-Maoist, constitution writing, peace process and party's future strategy to deal with these issues," said Ram Chandra Paudel, leader of Nepali Congress' Parliamentary Party.

Paudel also said party president Girija Prasad Koirala had asked him today to work for making the NC more active and effective. "I requested him to help me lead the PP effectively. He assured me that he would fully cooperate with me. Koirala also asked me to make the NC move vibrant and active and move ahead by taking party's rank and file into confidence," Paudel added.

During the meeting with Paudel at his residence, Koirala expressed happiness on Paudel's selection as the PP leader of the party. The octogenarian leader also congratulated Paudel for his victory in the election.

"The meeting will assess the party's PP elections and discuss other contemporary issues," party spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC said.

Central commitee member Narahari Acharya said the members would also urge the party leadership to bring time-bound schedule to hold party's general convention at the earliest.
