NC leaders resign en masse

Dhankuta: Nepali Congress Dhankuta office bearers at all levels as well as the general members have jointly resigned from the party today, in a show of protest against the government decision to bypass Dhankuta as the provisional headquarters for Province 1.

By organising a press conference in the district headquarters today, five thousand party general members including NC Dhankuta District Working Committee president Agni Prasad Poudel, along with all other office bearers of the party area, village and town committees, sister wings and general members jointly tendered their resignation and forwarded the names to the party central office.

Issuing a press statement, they rued the government ignoring the erstwhile regional headquarters. “As our own party-led government cheated Dhankuta by not declaring it as the provisional provincial headquarters despite having all the necessary infrastructures, we’ve decided to jointly resign from the party and its general membership,” read the statement.
