NC not supporting govt: PM Oli

Kavre, December 12

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today accused the Nepali Congress of not cooperating with the government.

“The NC claims to be a democratic party, but it has demonstrated an undemocratic behaviour by blocking passage of the Bill on Reconstruction Authority,” said the Prime Minister.

Inaugurating the 9th district conference of UML in Banepa, PM Oli, who is also the UML chairman, said NC blocked passage of the Bill after it was denied the post of Chief Executive Officer of the proposed body.

“The government tried to table the Bill in the Parliament last Friday, but NC and Madhesi Front obstructed its passage,” he said. PM Oli claimed that the Nepali Congress blocked the passage of the Bill saying the bills on reconstruction authority and statute amendment cannot be tabled simultaneously.

Stating that his government would make utmost efforts to take both the main opposition and the agitating front into confidence, Oli warned that time would eliminate the forces trying to make his government unsuccessful.

On a different note, Oli claimed that his government would rid the country of load-shedding within a year. “We can generate power through wind energy, solar energy, and thermal plant in addition to water to rid the country of load-shedding”, Oli held.

Claiming that electric vehicles would soon ply the streets of Kathmandu, Oli urged people keep patience. Oli said the government would complete construction of Araniko Highway, Rasuwagadhi road and Kimathanka road within two years. He remarked that India’s blockade of Nepal would end every soon.

Commenting on the NC’s non-cooperation, Oli claimed that main opposition’s clout had waned of late. He added that the UML-led government had been formed to work for the people and the country.
