NC PP meet inconclusive
Kathmandu, July 12:
The Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting remained inconclusive even today although it has come up with a couple of decisions on important issues.
The parliamentarians agreed that the House of Representatives should not be dissolved until an election to a constituent assembly is held.
“We are clear on it: We cannot dissolve the House of Representatives until we have an alternative,” said NC PP Secretary Benup Raj Prasai. He also said that the decision has been taken in the light of the fact that “we cannot believe rebels”.
While the party is yet to take a decision on the proposal concerning Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula, he has been however reported to have defended himself by saying that his moves were being guided by the spirit of the 12-point understanding.
Putting forth his point of view on the charges hurled at him, Sitaula argued that there was no need to go after him since eight-point deal for which he is being flayed was merely a sequel to the 12-point understanding. The meeting will resume tomorrow.
Meanwhile, party workers who had gathered outside the NC PP office in Singha Durbar had stepped up pressure on the party leaders to put an end to intra-party wrangling by shouting slogans.
