The Nepali Congress would never put a spanner in the works to draft historic constitution,

said Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, NC central member, speaking at a press meet organised today by the Nepal Press Union Panchthar in Phidim.

“The NC will never hinder the process of constitution writing,” said Mahat. “It’s the Maoists who intend to go their own way by proposing the slogan of People’s Republic against all accords and understandings reached with the government and other political parties.”

The Nepali Congress will never support anyone, who tends to cross the line against the democracy and people’s mandate, Mahat said.

He threatened to launch a movement from the streets and parliament if the Maoists reneged on their pledge to return the seized property within three months.
