Ncell tower set ablaze in Rautahat
RAUTAHAT: An Ncell tower was set ablaze in Chandrapur Municipality-2 of Rautahat district on Friday night.
An unidentifed group set fire to the cables of Ncell tower based in Kela Tole damaging the system, at around 1:00 am today, according to the Chandrapur-based Area Police Office (APO).
Meanwhile, thousands of Ncell consumers in the region are deprived of telecommunications services after the blaze.
Ncell Pvt Ltd has called on general public not to damage it towers.
Similarly, locals have also demanded the prompt repair of the damaged tower, local Govinda Timilsina said.
Local Administration Office (LAO) stated that it is committed to providing sense of security as the arson attack on the telecommunication tower prior to the local level elections scheduled for September 18, have made the polling stations more sensitive from the security point.
In the ward with estimated 4,500 voters, the security has been tightened in four of the most sensitive polling centres; Judibela Secondary School, Asanwa Basic School, Phulbari-based Janahit Primary School and Raiya Tole-based Mahendra Secondary School, police informed.
Police have alleged Netra Bikram Chand-led Maoist cadres to have involved in the arson attack.
Meanwhile, the search is on for the culprits, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yadav Dhakal at the APO said.
