KATHMANDU, JUNE 12

A meeting of Nepali Congress office bearers today proposed to hold the party's 14th National Convention from September 1 to 4.

NC Joint General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat said the meeting had proposed the date for the national convention, which would be finalised by the party's Central Working Committee to be called soon.

Earlier, the party had decided to hold its national convention from August 23 to 26.

Although there are challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the rainy season, we are committed to holding our national convention as per the legal provisions, Mahat said. He said party bodies would discuss how to face challenges in holding the next national convention to elect party office bearers.

The meeting decided that the panel formed to probe disputes over active membership would submit its report to the party president by July 4 and the party would issue the final list of active members by July 8. The meeting also proposed to hold ward-level convention from July 21.
