Nepali Congress candidate Nishcal Rai has been elected to the House of Representatives of Nepal from Ilam Constituency‑1.
Rai secured 14,543 votes, defeating Binod Kumar Nembang of the Shram Sanskriti Party, who garnered 13,632 votes. The final results were announced by the Election Officer's Office at 4:30 pm on Sunday. This marks the first time in 26 years that the Nepali Congress has won the parliamentary seat from Ilam-1.
CPN‑UML candidate Kajiman Kagate finished third with 11,966 votes, while the Nepal Communist Party secured 7,665 votes.
Out of 112,320 registered voters, 64,104 cast their ballots in the poll held on March 5.
