Nembang pins lasting peace hope on statute

Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Nembang said today that the constitution drafting process was the foundation for sustainable peace in the country.

Addressing a religious ceremony organised by the Mahesh Sanyas Ashram here today, he urged all concerned to assist in the statute-drafting process. “Religion and constitution both help to foster unity. I request all people to assist in the constitution-drafting process,” Nembang added. He also claimed that the process would complete within the stipulated time if all stakeholders supported it.

Meanwhile, Nembang admitted that drafting a new statute was a troublesome task. Speaking to mediapersons at the Bharatpur airport, he feared there might not be harmonious relationship among the parties in the course of writing a new statute. “The new constitution is a must to safeguard democracy and sustainable peace in the country. But some minor problems may arise,” he said, adding, “We need support from all the sides to see off such problems.”
