NAC cancels Hong Kong flight after its Airbus grounded in Delhi
KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines has cancelled its flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Hong Kong on Tuesday after 9N-AKW Airbus 320 has been grounded at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, according to a source at the Nepal Airlines Corporation.
The aircraft, which was piloted by senior captains Srawan Rijal and Mukesh Gupta, has been grounded since yesterday after witnessing a technical problem with its turbine engine compressor, an official at NAC said. A scheduled flight to Hong Kong was cancelled today while another flight to New Delhi was also delayed for several hours last night due to lack of aircraft, he added.
According to TIA officials, NAC technicians have already left for the Indian capital Delhi to examine the grounded Airbus. “It may take at least two-three more days to fix the problem.”
There is now only narrow-body 9N-AKX A320 aircraft with the NAC to commence its operations in the international destinations. NAC has sent its Boeing 757 to Singapore on Sunday for maintenance, a source said.
