KATHMANDU, MAY 9

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has said Nepal remains highly vulnerable to various disasters due to its geographic location.

Speaking at a regional ministerial-level meeting on Integrated Early Warning and Early Action Systems in Colombo on Thursday, Adhikari highlighted that Nepal faces frequent losses of infrastructure and economic damage from floods, droughts, cold waves, lightning, and glacial lake outburst floods.

He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and shared understanding to strengthen climate resilience and develop effective early warning systems.

The meeting, jointly organized by the Sri Lankan government and the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES), brought together representatives from African and Asian countries to discuss disaster risk, early warning mechanisms, and coordinated preparedness efforts.
