Nepal Drugs Limited to produce medicines from mid-September

KATHMANDU: Nepal Drugs Limited is all set to produce paracetamol from mid September this year.

NDL, which started producing medicines with the manufacture of oral rehydration salt from April, is producing cetamol in the second phase.

The pharmaceutical company was closed after the World Health Organisation made the Good Manufacturing Practice mandatory seven years ago.

Robus Kusum Subedi, NDL general manager said, “The company has started preparations for starting the production from mid-September itself.”

Works are being carried out to produce tablets of non-penincilin group medicine within three months of operation, he added

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 18 last year had decided to revive the government-operated NDL after eight years since its closure.

The government had decided to provide Rs 146.5 million loan for re-operating the government-run pharmaceutical company as per Good Manufacturing Practice.
