Nepal has been exhibiting its diplomatic acumen in five UN bodies.
It has been elected member of the five UN bodies - the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the UN Commission on Population and Development and the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development. It has also been reelected temporary member of the UN Security Council.
It will work for the CEDAW for three years, CND for two years and CPD and CSTD the whole year. It has already worked for the UN Women until 2021 and as chair of the Economic and Financial Committee of the UN General Assembly and as vice-chair of its Legal Committee.
A two-time temporary member of the UN Security Council, Nepal has been stressing the need to carry out additional reforms in the UN bodies and make them more active, effective and efficient.
