KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 11
As the Nepali Congress' 14th General Convention marches into the second day, four leaders have announced their candidacy for the top most spot in the party.
Incumbent party president Sher Bahadur Deuba is one of the 'natural' contenders for the post. He has the support of senior NC figure Krishna Prasad Sitaula, who had previously contested the election for party presidency against Deuba.
Meanwhile, vice-president Bimalendra Nidhi was the first candidate to have announced his decision to run for the NC president.
However, since the 'rival faction', which had been holding meetings for days to chalk out a unanimous contender against the party establishment, failed to endorse a single candidate, leaders Shekhar Koirala and Prakash Man Singh too have decided to run for the post.
Similarly, party leaders Kalyan Gurung and Yubaraj Neupane too have announced his candidacy, making it a six-way contest for top leadership.
The three candidates have also announced their panels along with their nomination.
