Nepal-India border to be sealed

Nepal-India border will be sealed till Monday evening starting tonight keeping in view security during assembly elections in Baharaich district, India, said Banke District Administration Office.

Fearing infiltration of criminals, security agencies of both the countries have beefed up security along the border.

The border will be sealed for two days from 10:00pm today to 06:00pm on Monday. “We’re going to seal the border for two days at the request of the Indian security officials,” said District Police Office Bara DSP Shiva Bahadur Singh, adding that emergency vehicles, however, will be allowed to ply.

Following the temporary seal on the border, Banke administration issued a notice urging local residents to refrain from visiting the Indian side of the border during the election period.

Besides the bordering areas, security has also been beefed up in bordering Banke and Bardiya districts in view of the election.
