KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) handed over its flag and bade farewell with felicitation to the Mera Peak expedition team, on Sunday.
The expedition team members comprising of Guinness World Record holders had gathered at a function organised at NMA secretariat Nagpokhari, Naxal.
President Santa Bir Lama handed over the NMA flag to Sancha Bahadur Rai, and leader of the expedition team Lhakpa Dorji Sherpa. Purna Bahadur Rai, Maya Gurung, Tek Bahadur Rai, Amir Raj Thapa, Buddhi Raj Rai, Puskar Nepal, Sirjana Kirati, Shikhar Jung Shrestha and Laxman Karki are the other members of this very unique expedition team.
The team comprises experts from various fields along with Guinness world record holders.
The team is leaving Kathmandu tomorrow for the expedition. The team will host the NMA flag atop Mera peak after their successful ascent.
Chairperson of Mahakulung Rural Municipality Sagar Kirati, who was also present at the function, wished for the team's successful expedition.
President Lama along with the chairperson of Mahakulung Rural Municipality Kirati, Vice President of NMA Maya Sherpa, General Secretary Kul Bahadur Gurung, Secretary Tikaram Gurung and Board member Sanjiv Gurung also bade the team farewell honouring them with khada.
