Illegal goods seizure and court verdicts contribute largest share of enforcement collections

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 30

Nepal Police collected revenue totaling Rs 248,514,564 during Kartik in fiscal year 2082/083, representing aggregated income from enforcement and judicial activities across the country.

Seizure of illegal goods generated the largest revenue stream at Rs 108,407,625, accounting for 46.62 per cent of total collections. Implementation of court verdicts contributed Rs 69,671,442, representing 28.04 per cent of overall revenue.

Traffic fines generated Rs 49,745,661, contributing 20.02 per cent of total collections. Undisclosed sources of money accounted for Rs 13,584,350, or 5.47 per cent of revenue.

Remaining sources contributed less than 5 per cent individually. Seizure of illegal gold and silver generated Rs 3,497,919 (1.41 per cent), followed by seizure of illegal livestock and birds at Rs 1,355,950 (0.55 per cent), illegal river-based mining at Rs 1,140,830 (0.46 per cent), and seizure of illegal timber at Rs 1,003,387 (0.40 per cent).

Seizure of illegal currency contributed a minor Rs 107,400, representing 0.04 per cent of total collections. Hundi and illegal money transfer activities generated zero revenue during the reported month.

The revenue breakdown reflects Nepal Police's enforcement priorities and the relative scale of different illegal activities detected during the month-long period.
