Nepal reported 4,524 fresh Covid-19 infections today, taking the caseload tally to 571,111. Death toll stands at 7,555

Nepal on Wednesday reported 4,524 new cases of the coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the Covid-19 caseload has reached 571,111.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 7,555 with 101 Covid-related fatalities reported today.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbed to 80.8% on Wednesday, as opposed to 80.2 % on Tuesday and the total number of recoveries in the country as of today is 461,563. As many as 7,219 people who had earlier contracted the disease recovered in the past 24 hours.

With fresh recoveries slightly more than the new infections of late, the active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 101,993.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 792 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 5,316.

In the same time frame, 969 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 306 and 181 cases respectively.

There are 837 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

According to the health ministry, 16,878 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 13,805 were PCR tests while 3,073 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,088,376 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

On Tuesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 566,587 with 5,285 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 171 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.5 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 154 million people have recovered while more than 13 million cases are still active.
