KATHMANDU, AUGUST 28

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 758,008 on Saturday with 1,516 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 710,452 with 2,222 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 10,690 with 27 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 13,176 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,409 were PCR tests while 3,767 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,877,469 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 341 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 1,857.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.7%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 37,599.

Currently, there are 337 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

In the same time frame, 337 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 112 and 67 cases respectively.

On Friday, Nepal's coronavirus caseload had reached 756,492 with 1,577 people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 216 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.4 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 193 million people have recovered while more than 18 million cases are still active.
