Nepal on Saturday registered 187 fatalities due to Covid-19 and 8,046 fresh cases, taking the death toll to 4,856 and nationwide total infection count to 447,704.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 121 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 8,167.

Both new infections and deaths have risen sharply after Nepal logged Covid-19 cases in four digits on April 18.

According to the health ministry, 18,548 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 17,971 were PCR tests while 577 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,751,481 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Likewise, 5,455 people who were earlier infected with the virus have been discharged in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by the health ministry. As of today, 333,108 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 74.4 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 109,740.

Currently, there are 675 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Friday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 439,658 with 8,467 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 162 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.3 million people have lost their lives to the disease. Likewise, over 140 million people have recovered while more than 18 million cases are still active.
