Nepal to host the Global Gathering on Scaling Up Nutrition for the first time
KATHMANDU: Nepal will host the Global Gathering on Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) which will be held in the Capital from November 4-7.
During the gathering, it is all set to share with the international community about the progress it has achieved so far in the nutrition sector and related future programmes as well.
The 5th SUN global gathering is being held for the first time in South Asia, specifically in Nepal.
According to National Planning Commision's (NCP) spokesperson Dr Kiran Rupakheti, 1,200 representatives from 80 countries will be arriving for the gathering which will witness 25 workshops.
According to the report titled 'The State of the World's Children 2019: Children, Food and Nutrition' published by UNICEF recently, 36 per cent of Nepali children below five years were stunted, 27 per cent under-weight, 1.2 per cent were overweight and 10 per cent of them were suffering from wasting (low weight for height).
