Nepal will have abundant electricity within 3 years, hopes minister

KATHMANDU: Energy Minister Janardan Sharma has claimed that Nepal would boast abundant hydroelectricity within next three years.

Laying foundation stone for a sub-station of the Nepal Electricity Authority in Ghailadubba of Jhapa today, Minister Sharma encouraged people to engage themselves more in industrial activities that would require more electricity.

"On contrary to the energy saving campaign now," an hopeful Sharma said, "Citizens would be asked to spend more electricity after three years."

Stating that the development activities in Nepal lacked unified project planning, the Minister informed that his Ministry would cooperate with the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation, and the Ministry of Land Reform and Management to make better plans and policies.

Urging all to participate in the developmental works, he also assured to make citizens rich from the hydropower sector.
