Nepalgunj protesters pelt stones at police from other side of border

NEPALGUNJ: Protesting cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Saturday pelted stones at Nepal Police personnel deployed at the Indo-Nepal border point in Nepalgunj.

The protesters threw stones targeting police guarding the Nepali side from the Indian side of Rupaidiha.

Police said four police personnel were injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, police also pelted stones back at the protesters, injuring at least five.

The security personnel, however, were not allowed to use any other force including tear gas to control the mob as the protesters were demonstrating at and across the no man’s land.

The sporadic clashes are on throughout the day.
